More in the crowd at Obama rally

The VIPs in the crowd in Greensboro were more local.

At a rally for Barack Obama today, the highest-ranking candidate for state office was Agriculture Commissioner candidate Ronnie Ansley.

Obama gave him a shout-out and recognized Congressional candidates Roy Carter and Teresa Sue Bratton, Greensboro Mayor Yevonne Johnson and state Rep. Pricey Harrison.

Also at the event: State Rep. Alma Adams and state Cultural Resources secretary Libba Evans.

Not present: Democratic gubernatorial candidate Beverly Perdue or Senate candidate Kay Hagan, who is from Greensboro.

Update: The inestimable Mark Binker of the News & Record says he spotted Rep. Earl Jones as well.

Second Update: A spokeswoman for Hagan said she had a previously scheduled event.

Re: More in the crowd at Obama rally

Be glad Perdue wasnt there to leech the Obama drama...

Invisible......I don't think so.

Be reasonable!

There's a gas shortage out there in the western expanses of our state. It's been all over the news. Why would Bev head out to Greensboro from Raleigh or New Bern without knowing if she could buy gas to get back home?

No telling when she could get back home. And being in Greensboro on a Saturday night........well.....

Perdue is Invisible! Glimpse of Future?

If I ran for Governor in NC and my party's Presidential candidate was attracting 20,000 mostly democratic & independent voters, I would leverage the heck out of it, even if it meant rescheduling another event. Beverly, how many did you attract at your event(s) today?

Several thoughts come to mind about Beverly:
- She is politically stupid as she won't be seen at either party Presidential events or statewide debates
- She is scared to be joined at the hip with Obama - show me a picture of the two of them together before I will believe otherwise
- She must have been busy covering her tracks regarding her dirty fundraising leaders as well as her problems with the Ethics Commission.

For those moderate Democrats and independents across North Carolina looking for visionary leadership, consider Mayor McCrory as he won't be invisible or corrupt after he gets elected Governor!
