Moore beats Purdue?

Richard Moore says Purdue will lose.

But it's not what you think.

The state treasurer turned in his NCAA tournament picks to the N&O's online brackets. His final pick: UNC-Chapel Hill's men's team beats Purdue, 52 to 46.

Moore, of course, is running for the Democratic gubernatorial nomination against a different Perdue — Lt. Gov. Beverly Perdue.

Also in his Final Four: Texas and Davidson.

On the women's side, he picks UNC to beat Rutgers, 68 to 62. Maryland and Duke University would be in the Final Four there.

The N&O has invited major candidates for U.S. Senate and governor to submit brackets by Thursday. Other North Carolina politicians and candidates are welcome to do so here as well.
