Democratic Congressman Mike McIntyre said his campaign had raised $852,000 last year and that he begins the campaign with $687,000 cash on hand.
The campaign said this was the most that McIntyre has ever raised during an off year. He may need it, because the Republicans have targeted McIntyre after the GOP legislature had made his 7th district more Republican leaning.
“Now more than ever,” McIntyre said in a statement, “we need a strong voice in Congress who can reach across the aisle, build consensus, and get things done.”
Two Republicans are campaigning for the right to face McIntyre, Ilario Pantano and state Sen. David Rouzer.
McIntyre said that he raised $194,000 in the fourth quarter.
