bnartis you are trying to put a simple spin on a very emotional issue. To excuse Pat of not wanting what was best for his mother is awful. Why is Beverly making this an issue in this campaign? That should be the question! Why is she stirring the emotions of those that are battling diseases or going through difficult times with family members that are fighting a disease. Why isn't she talkng with any substance about the real issues facing NC?
So just to be clear, Pat McCrory is choosing a blastocyst, a barely visible 0.15mm, 5-day mass of about 100 cells, over his parents or, the victim of a terrible disease.

- First of all, is stem cell research a mental or physical health issue?
I consider stem cell research a mental issue, since its immediate relevance is for mental health issue (Alzheimer's Disease...etc.) Bev admitted in the debate that she only was responsible for physical health and made it very clear, she did not have any role in mental health in NC. I find it very contrary that she is even attacking on such an issue (which is deplorable in my opinion), since she has washed her hands of mental health in NC. I am sorry Bev...you can not have you cake and cookies too.
- Secondly, since when did the governor of North Carolina have a say with stem cell research?
I do believe this is a national issue not a state issue and if it were, I think Pat McCrory would refer the issue to the voters as opposed to Bev, who would maintain the status quo.
- Since Bev Purdue wants to make this an issue, what action/legislation has she ever done for stem cell research?
None...remember she only deals with physical health.
