McCrory touts offshore drilling in ad

Pat McCrory is making the case for offshore drilling in his first TV ad.

The ad, which will debut later at a press conference later today, begins by criticizing a recent third-party attack ad against McCrory.

"While my opponent's secret allies are running misleading negative ads, I'm seeking solutions to help create jobs and lower gas prices," McCrory says in the ad.

He goes on to say that he is looking to reduce gas prices.

"I support conservation and deep-sea exploration for natural gas and oil," he says. "Beverly Perdue is 100 percent opposed and says it won't happen on her watch. I agree. It will happen on my watch with your support."

The ad features McCrory speaking against a white background — a staple of his primary ads — and ends with his tagline "The difference is leadership."

The text of the ad after the jump.

—————

MCCRORY: I'm Pat McCrory, candidate for governor and I approve this ad. While my opponent’s secret allies are running misleading negative ads, I'm seeking solutions to help create jobs and lower gas prices. I support conservation and deep-sea exploration for natural gas and oil. Beverly Perdue is 100 percent opposed and says it won't happen on her watch. I agree. It will happen on my watch with your support. I'm Pat McCrory. The difference is leadership.

Re: McCrory touts offshore drilling in ad

You need to keep running your disclaimer: The Energy Information Administration said in a report last year that offshore drilling would not increase the oil supply until 2017, while the RAND report projected that technical problems would prevent oil shale from producing a significant amount of oil for at least 20 years.
