McCrory: 'Probably' oppose minimum wage

Pat McCrory said in May he would probably oppose a minimum wage increase.

A May 4 article in the Asheville Citizen-Times — just two days before the primary — listed the opinions of the Republican gubernatorial candidates on the minimum wage:

Graham said he would oppose another hike in the minimum wage, which will go to $7.25 next year. McCrory said he probably would oppose an increase on the grounds that it could eliminate jobs. Orr opposes it except as part of more comprehensive help for workers. Smith wouldn't go so far as to say he opposes a raise but said it's "not the answer" to economic problems.

That answer is a little different from McCrory's current stated position that he supports an increase in the minimum wage as long as it's tied to tax breaks for small businesses.

But it does not necessarily conflict with the answer either, especially given the low level of detail in the answer.

The Alliance for North Carolina, which is running a TV ad that claims McCrory opposes a minimum wage increase, cited this article as evidence for its claim.
