Gov. Pat McCrory is focusing his attention on the House now that the Senate ignored his calls for a delay on a bill to limit the expansion of Medicaid coverage and block a state-sponsored health insurance marketplace.
"We are optimistic that we can hopefully work out an agreement with the House to deal with some of our concerns about the cost to the North Carolina taxpayers," McCrory said Tuesday after the Council of State meeting. "We hope we can work those out before it gets through the legislature because we continue to have those concerns."
McCrory sent a letter to Senate leaders Monday asking for a go-slow approach but the Senate approved the bill anyway. He did not elaborate on what specific changes are needed to assuage his concerns.
