McCrory boasts of poll results

Pat McCrory says his own polls show he's in the lead.

In an e-mail to supporters, the Charlotte mayor boasts that a statewide survey from Voter Consumer Research in Washington, D.C., shows him in the lead over Republican gubernatorial candidates Fred Smith, Bob Orr and Bill Graham.

He does not provide any numbers for those results, however.

He also says that questions pitting him against either of the two Democratic candidates, Beverly Perdue or Richard Moore, put him slightly ahead of her and slightly behind him, with a large number of undecideds.

"These results are outstanding since we have not initiated a state-wide campaign and it shows we can win both the primary and general election," he writes. "They also show a very large number of undecideds, which means the race is wide open."

For those two questions, he provides the wording and the percentages, but not the raw numbers, the dates of the poll, other questions asked, or who was polled (registered voters, likely voters, general population, etc.).

Re: McCrory Poll Irrelevant

What exactly does he do for Duke?

Re: McCrory Poll Irrelevant

The question is, depsite all these numbers...is McCrory really going to jump in or not. Plus thos were some hard hits from Orr and Graham..accusing McCrory of being a career politician. To my knowledge is an energy executive at Duke Energy

Re: McCrory boasts of poll results

McCrory doesn't have a chance. He will lay beside all of the other Charlotte politicians that lay strewn along I-85 as they tried to make the trip toward the Governor's Mansion.

Re: McCrory boasts of poll results

These results seem awfully suspect. Especially without launching a state-wide campaign. I'd love to see a statewide poll that asks, without any answer choices:

"Name the Mayor of Charlotte."

Please.

McCrory Poll Irrelevant

McCrory's poll does not carry much weight due to the inclusion of Neilsen and Munger. Let's face it...if this poll gives Neilsen 4%...it does not prove anything, much less a McCrory lead. I think McCrory should release how many people were actually polled....was it 5 people? Was it 500?

Re: McCrory boasts of poll results

Those are percentages, not raw numbers. How many people were polled? 10? 100? 500? He doesn't say.

Anyway, those are for the general election. He did not provide anything on the primary matchup.

Re: McCrory boasts of poll results

Pat McCrory 39%
Bev Purdue 36%
Michael Munger 2%
Dennis Neilson 4%
Don't know 18%

The numbers were included

Re: McCrory boasts of poll results

What pollster worth his salt manages to screw up a possible general election ballot by including Dennis Nielson as an independent candidate?
