State Sen. Eric Mansfield said he raised $30,000 Tuesday night at a kick off for his campaign for the Democratic nomination for lieutenant governor.
The campaign said more than 250 people gathered at the SkyView on Hay in Fayetteville to support Mansfield.
Mansfield is an ear, nose and throat surgeon and an ordained Baptist minister. He faces Linda Coleman, the state personnel director and a former state lawmaker in the Democratic primary.
In the Republican primary for lieutenant governor, Dan Forest has named Velvet Shelton to be his statewide Tea Party coordinator. She is currently serving as Surry County chair for Forest's campaign.
