A group of local Barack Obama supporters will head to South Carolina tomorrow.
Organizers say they will caravan to the Myrtle Beach area Saturday, meet up with the Illinois senator's staff for a brief training session and then canvass neighborhoods in four nearby towns.
Carolyn Cameron, a Raleigh database administrator, said she expects between 70 and 100 volunteers to show up for the event. She hopes for even more for a second caravan later this month.
"We had a lot of people mobilized by his win in Iowa," she said, "and others by the loss in New Hampshire."
Both events are designed to boost turnout and persuade voters to back Obama in the state's Democratic primary, which will be held on Saturday, Jan. 26.
The trips were jointly organized by Triangle for Obama and the campaign.
