Kissell not much of a joiner

Larry KissellU.S. Rep. Larry Kissell says he never asked to join the Blue Dog Coalition.

As part of an ongoing drive to fill reporters' inboxes with criticism of the freshman Democrat, the National Republican Congressional Committee e-mailed Dome this morning to breathlessly report that the fiscally conservative coalition had "rejected" Kissell.

But a spokeswoman for Kissell said that's backwards.

"Congressman Kissell pledged during the campaign that he would not join the Blue Dogs and therefore has not," responded Brianna Atkins by e-mail.

She said he was asked to join by Rep. Heath Shuler, a whip for the coalition, but declined. Kissell has not joined any other coalitions in the House either, she added.

"As he says, he isn't much of a joiner," she wrote.

Re: Paul Terrell

Agreed. Last call boys. Everybody go home now.

Re: Paul Terrell

Okay RTB there have been times when you have closed a topic for discussion. Now is the time. Geez enough is enough. This is bordering on stupid.

Re: Paul Terrell

Hey gosh get a life.

Re: Never mind, Paul

James tries to stick what Rush Limbaugh says onto me. Okay that is fairly done. How about I stick Bill Ayers and that left wing nut Churchill onto James. Please James defend those two terrorists. They were speaking at the University of Colorado today.

Limbaugh said he wanted Obama's socialist policies to fail. So please James have the integrity to use his full sentance not the snippets you liberals like to do. Have a little honesty. Now all you have to do is defend Ayers and Churchill and their I do not regret trying to bomb the US capital and a NY police station, ect. ect..

If you can't insult someone or make a point in less than...

...4 paragraphs, much less a biography, you don't belong here.

You belong on a perpetual first date with the girl that ordered the Nacho Mountain.

The return key is not an option. It's a transition point between related, but different thoughts.

I have a cat. But sometimes the return key is used for emphasis.

And I hate you.

Carry on, before I type a thousand more words in a giant run on sentence that also boil down to:

I hate you.

Re: Touche

Now boys, make nice.

Touche

You are very perceptive. I am quite familiar with the language of the devil as I have been married to his sister for 45 years. But she is wealthy.

Domewatcher

Sarcasm I now see to be, in general, the language of the devil; for which reason I have long since as good as renounced it.

Thomas Carlyle

Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.

James wrote:

"I was sworn in as an officer in the US Navy when you were two years old, Paul. Have you ever taken a solemn oath to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States of America? I have, and I still live by that oath. Have you ever put your life on the line for this country? I have done that too."

I think the Dome should take this statement and post it over an American Flag…….with the flag waving in the breeze. Post these words by James and have them narrated by James Earl Jones. I’ll bet there would not be a dry eye in the house. I'm crying my eyes out as I try to type. Glory be!

I’m not too sure but these words seem vaguely familiar. Did Jessie Helms use these same words when campaigning? I have heard of wrapping yourself in the flag but in this instance I worry about choking or strangling. Dome should remind children of the dangers of such practices. Wrapping yourself this far into a flag could be dangerous.

Could we add these words to the Preamble? To the Bill of Rights? The Halifax Resolves? These words could be the new mission statement for the N & O.

After reading this impassioned plea I am beginning to think that James has finally seen the light and is joining us right wing nut jobs. Welcome home, brother! You wandered a long time but the road home was always there for you.....see you over at the Carolina Journal. LOL

Never mind, Paul

Every now and then I slip into the delusion that it's worth trying to have a serious conversation with even the most extreme of conservatives. You'd think I'd know better by now.

I searched online for your bio and found no mention of your time in the military. Which is why I framed my comments as questions. Thank you for your service.

I don't believe Bush's decision was flippant. I believe it was a cold and calculated choice to fight a war that was neither necessary nor wise. The world would be a lot better off if many of the people currently in power were gone. In China. In Russia. In Iran. In Pakistan. In Venezuela. In North Korea. But that doesn't mean our president should lie about the risks they pose to justify attacking them in preemptive war, in Bush's case, a war that has already cost more than a trillion dollars.

I'll have nothing more to say to you. Good day.

Re: Paul Terrell

I served in our great United States Army for four years and then took advantage of the GI BILL. But you would have known that if you researched me. I was enlisted and worked for a living while you were a officer. Apparently you did not learn that our military wants you to be able to act independently and decisivly(spelling - not perfect here) with the rules of law and war. Why do you deny Heath Schuler this ability and responsibility?

I do not see you disassociating yourself with all of the viciousness and hate of the left. That is the issue I have with you. You have allowed and wrote blog entries yourself calling Bush W a moron. Can we get past the grade school stuff on your blog yet? You also may not agree with Limbaugh but then how do you know, you never listen to him. He is outspoken but very sincere in his core beliefs. And besides he is just your distraction to keep our citizens from seeing the true far left agenda. So as you keep attacking conservative leaders and entertainers, that only tells me we are right and a threat to the total control by the extreme left. I believe America is a great country, do you? Answer questions and put yourself on the record, or are you afraid of that?

Will you answer the question whether we would be better off with Sadaam Hussein still in power in Iraq? Would you agree that the change in strategy in Iraq to include the surge in troops worked? Obama doesn't but he is surging troops into Afghanistan.

As far as Heath Schuller, I am glad he is his own man and not a yes man for liberals or conservatives. Is it that your ilk wants a in lock step yes man to further cement the liberal power and control? Let the man represent his district and all of the people of NC without having to serve the far left masters in Pelosi and Senator (Iraq is lost-defeatist) Reid.

Addition: So I guess Hillary Clinton and every single Democrat who voted to authorize Bush the funding to go into Iraq are criminals as well. They all saw the same intelligence that Bush saw. Especially Clinton. Bush did nothing criminal and you know it. You are just using that a smoke screen and we all know that. Senator Reid making that self proclaimed statement that Iraq is lost and our soldiers are murderers beholdened the terrorist. As a officer you knew that you might one day be sending people into a situation to die. Or did you forget that already. You act as if Bush's decision was flippant. You should be ashamed for even thinking such a thing.

I am serving this community (non-political), what are you doing to help us all out?

Paul Terrell

I'm glad to serve as the focal point of your ire about democracy, but before you go ranting about me and my civility, you'd do well to read what I write and learn a little bit about what I stand for.

I admit to a couple of years of outright hostility and anger. Your party and your policies quite nearly flushed our great country down the toilet, and I'm still mad about it. That said, I'm working very hard to redirect my anger and the conversations around me toward engagement that is constructive and positive. That doesn't mean I won't offer criticism where I think it's due. For example, I think Heath Shuler is out to make a name for himself and is letting his big ego get in the way of his service to North Carolina.

I have no personal problem with you, though I disagree with virtually everything I've ever seen you write or say. But that's what great about America. You get to think whatever you want, no matter how ridiculous I think it is.

America, including me, stood behind George Bush during the earliest days of his presidency, especially after the 9-11 attacks. I wanted the president to be successful even though I didn't approve of his style and cushiness with big bidness. I turned on him, though, after he lied us into war. I have friends who are dead now because of George W. Bush, and I personally consider him a criminal.

I was sworn in as an officer in the US Navy when you were two years old, Paul. Have you ever taken a solemn oath to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States of America? I have, and I still live by that oath. Have you ever put your life on the line for this country? I have done that too.

From all your rantings, it appears you are in the Rush Limbaugh camp of wanting President Obama to fail. If you're not in that camp, say so. If you are, shame on you.

Re: Kissell not much of a joiner

Tangoz, you forgot to add a few bars of Lee Greenwood and Toby Keith to your diatribe.

Whatever happened to real country anyway? Maybe that's what I'll go looking for on this lovely weekend.

Re: Kissell not much of a joiner

Juan Williams of NPR and a Fox News contributer said that when he questioned the left he was viciously attacked by the far left. And he stated that he has never received anywhere close to the personal attacks of the left by self proclaimed right wingers.

It was okay for the left to call Bush 3rd grade insulting names and now I hear the far left (Democratic Underground/Huffington Post) have been leaving nasty and downright despicable post about his mother. Yet if a republican or Conservative calls Obama's policies socialist, well that is mean and not called for?

And Protzman represents that with his far left blog. Do you think Protzman steps in to ask for some some civility? NOPE. I will celebrate the day that RTB and others at this paper actually stand up to the intimidation and vicious assaults on our freedoms by the far left!

I am not going anywhere and I will continue to expose the socialist agenda of power and control being perpetrated by the left in this country. God Bless America!

Ha!

Re: Kissell not much of a joiner

It does sound good, thanks for that Rep. Kissell.

Re: Kissell not much of a joiner

Well Comrade Protzman, Shuler is not a kool aid drinker and that serves North Carolina very well. Thank God for people like Heath Shuler who can think for themselves. I thought you Democrats liked mavericks, or is it only when the maverick bucks the Republican party? The Democrat Party--home of intolerance.

Kissell not much of a joiner! Heath joins secret Kennel

She said he was asked to join by Rep. Heath Shuler, a whip for the coalition, but declined. Kissell has not joined any other coalitions in the House either, she added*N&O

Good for Congressman Kissell! At least he understands that Heath Blue Dog Coalition secret Pawshakes and sniffing each other tails does not extend far in political rites and real power!

Good.

We'd all be a lot better off without people like Shuler "joining" coalitions that have nothing to do with serving the people of North Carolina.

Kudos to Congressman Kissell for standing on his own two feet.
