South Carolina Congressman Joe Wilson will campaign for the Republican ticket in Asheville on Thursday.
Wilson, who is from Columbia will speak to volunteers at the Republican Victory Headquarters in Asheville. He will talk about North Carolina's importance in the 2012 elections, according to a GOP release.
Wilson is best known for an incident in 2009, when he interrupted a speech by President Barack Obama to a joint session of Congress by shouting ''you lie.''
Wilson later apologized for the incident and the House, in a largely party-line vote, passed a resolution rebuking him.
The incident occurred when the president said his health plan would not insure illegal immigrants. Several fact-check groups said the law specifically excluded illegal aliens from participating in the health insurance program.
