Insurer says ad is misleading

State Insurance Services is demanding Beverly Perdue pull a TV ad.

In the ad, the Democratic gubernatorial candidate says that state Treasurer Richard Moore awarded a contract to allow the company to market insurance products to state and local government retirees because its principals have raised money for his campaign.

The ad also says that retirees are being overcharged.

"It goes so far beyond being just misleading," said Allen Thomas, a Wilson lawyer and a principal of State Insurance Services. "I haven't found very much in here that's accurate."

The company's attorney sent a "cease and desist" letter to Perdue's campaign Friday. They responded in an e-mail that the ad's run would end "early next week," but spokesman David Kochman said the campaign stands behind it.

"Richard Moore gave a sweetheart deal to his political contributors -- that's what this is about," he said. (N&O)

Re: Insurer says ad is misleading

How can the goverment say they are for the people when they mislead the poor public. What does the Declartion of Independece stand for all men shell be treated egual not the rich bias against the poor it's justice for all ethical and equal. Judicial respect not a conflict but harass by lawyer over charging more than what it's worth and still doing nothing to help us poor people. Showing bias to us or we will have a big conflict we have evidence and still loose the goverment shows no intrest in us but to get us to vote for them and take our money and pride from us. They embrass us making us go thru a lot of red tape for nothing and no justice we just give up we put them in the office to turn their back on us this is our state goverment but they can catch some one in the office doing anything wrong they will fight to see if they can keep it down. New t.v., radio but if a business done something wrong to a poor person get a lawyer if you can't afford one you have to take it as a lost they stole my money the sheriff set me up cost me money embarassment and time now Greensboro N.C. has police doing the same thing I want to know who found out how did they have them investigate i been trying for five years to do this thing not adding up matching up difference. check my sheriff records. And some bank and business stealing my money and some what bias.

Thank you
