Hunt calls for N.C. debate

Jim HuntFormer Gov. Jim Hunt has called for a North Carolina debate.

On his This Old State blog, Charlotte Observer editor Jack Betts writes that Hunt has joined Gov. Mike Easley, Speaker Joe Hackney and Senate leader Marc Basnight in urging Barack Obama to agree to a debate with Hillary Clinton here.

"Hunt points out that while the presidential candidates have debated many previous times, the candidates have not discussed North Carolina issues," he writes.

Obama has not yet agreed to an April 27 debate proposed by the state Democratic Party and CBS News, although Clinton has.

Re: Hunt calls for N.C. debate

So when he's president, and an issue is too tough or Congress defeats a bill or a foreign leader calls him a bad name, should he not show up then, either?

If you can't take the heat...

Re: Hunt calls for N.C. debate

After the farce of last night, Obama should not accept another debate.
