Republican Richard Hudson, who is looking to unseat U.S. Rep. Larry Kissell in the 8th Congressional District, has been invited to speak at the 2012 Republican National Convention next week in Tampa. He is one of the only candidates running for a House who has been invited to address the convention, his staff said.
“I am honored to have the opportunity to shine a national spotlight on how President Obama's policies -- supported by Larry Kissell -- are failing the people of the 8th District,” Hudson said.
Kissell, a Biscoe Democrat, is seen as one of the most vulnerable House Democrats in this year’s election. William Harris, convention chief, said Hudson is part of the future of the party.
Nearly 50,000 visitors are expected to come to the Tampa Bay area for the Republican Convention, including delegates, media, and demonstrators.
