High five! Film studio party for former legislator

EUE/Screen Gems Studios is hosting a party for former state Rep. Danny McComas of New Hanover to celebrate his support for the film industry.

McComas, a Republican, did not run for reelection and recently resigned his seat to become chairman of the N.C. Ports Authority board.

The "Celebration of Danny McComas" will be held Sept. 29 at the Wilmington studio, the Star-News reported.

McComas co-starred in a legislative drama a few months ago when he sponsored an amendment extending the state's film tax incentives and exchanged a high five with Democratic Rep. Susi Hamilton of Wilmington.

Hamilton later voted to override Gov. Bev Perdue's veto of a bill allowing fracking. She said later she did not exchange film incentives for her fracking vote.
