Health care forum coming to N.C.

The White House is expected to announce Thursday that North Carolina will be the site on March 31 of one of several health care forums the administration plans to hold in the coming weeks across the country.

It’s unclear yet where in North Carolina the forum might be held, but it is to be led by Gov. Beverly Perdue, Barb Barrett reports.

President Barack Obama will host the first of several health care forums Thursday at the White House. The forums are meant to bring together lawmakers, health care providers and patients to talk about rising health costs.

Obama announced in his address to Congress last month that he will make health care reform one of the top domestic priorities of his administration this year.

From her Dome bio:

In 1982, she worked as a consultant for Craven County Hospital (now Craven Regional Medical Center), where she was in charge of administering a $1 million grant on in-home care for the elderly from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.

From 1983 to 1986, she worked as director of geriatric services for the hospital.

Re: Health care forum coming to N.C.

did Bev Perdue really work as a hospital administrator?

Re: Health care forum coming to N.C.

get sick people out of health care and watch costs go down! This is exactly what the insurance companies do when they engage in cherry picking and denial management. Only in America!

Re: Health care forum coming to N.C.

Maybe they can look into how NC Blue Cross is not for profit but their records are showing a 180 million dollar profit while the insured are having rates go up constantly.

Re: Health care forum coming to N.C.

Might as well take the people out of health care, let them die and watch the costs go down.

Seriously now, time for the United States to join every other "western" country in the world, universal health care now!

Re: Health care forum coming to N.C.

Get the insurance requirements out of health care & let the doctors do the diagnostic testing up front that they know it is going to take to diagnose a problem in the 1st place. Time to do the MRI instead of all the battery of tests just to finally lead to the MRI!

get the doctors out of healthcare and watch the costs go down.

Re: Health care forum coming to N.C.
