Wake County Sheriff Donnie Harrison is backing Wake County Commissioner Tony Gurley, a Republican, in his campaign for Lt. Governor.
Harrison will appear at a Gurley fund raiser Tuesday with former Lt. Gov. Jim Gardner at the Farmer's Market Restaurant in Raleigh. Tickets begin at $75.
Of course, the sheriff does depend on Gurley, as county commissioner, for funding for his department.
“Tony has always impressed me with his ability to meet the country's funding needs – including those of our office – while lowering the tax burden on Wake County taxpayers,” Harrison said in a statement.
Gurley faces Dan Forest, a Raleigh architect in next May's GOP primary, with the winner taking on Democratic incumbent Walter Dalton.
