Hagan names new staffers with deep political experience

Democratic Sen. Kay Hagan has hired Lindsay Siler, the state director of President Obama's re-election campaign, to be a senior advisor on her staff.

Siler, who will be based in Raleigh, will oversee constituent outreach and engagement.
Hagan, who faces a potentially difficult re-election fight in 2014, is bringing on her staff someone with extensive political experience.

Siler worked for the Obama campaign in 2008, and headed Organizing for America in the state the three years prior to the 2012 campaign. Before that, Siler was director of Public Policy for Planned Parenthood Health Systems.

Hagan also named long-time aide Sadie Weiner as communications director. She worked in Hagan's 2008 campaign, worked on her Senate staff, spent several months in 2010 working in Sen. Patty Murray's re-election campaign and also worked as press secretary for Sen. Sherrod Brown's re-election campaign.

Great news!

Hagan's re-election may be the only bright spot in the state over the next four years. With the GOP trying to suppress the vote through voter i.d. bills and reducing same day registration and early voting, we will need all the GOTV experience we can get to make sure all North Carolinians get to exercise their right to vote.

I hope you keep an eye on

I hope you keep an eye on the activities of these two new staffers as there is a federal law that does not allow campaigning while on the Federal payroll.
