Hagan gives Dole 24 hours to remove ad

State Sen. Kay Hagan says she'll go to court to seek a cease-and-desist order against U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Dole's campaign if the "godless" TV spot isn't pulled in the next 24 hours.

Hagan, a Democrat, held a press conference this morning with her family and minister at the Presbyterian church in Greensboro where she is an elder and has taught Sunday school, reports Lisa Zagaroli of The Charlotte Observer.

Hagan's campaign said it had delivered letters to Dole's Raleigh and Salisbury offices and her Washington, D.C., home, giving the campaign 24 hours to pull the ad before Hagan's campaign took legal recourse.

The political ad suggests Hagan is "godless" because she attended a fundraiser in Boston in September at the home of author Wendy Kaminer and her husband, Woody Kaplan, who was on the advisory board of the Godless Americans political action committee and active in a group that promotes "secular" ideas.

The TV ad features an announcer saying "Godless Americans and Kay Hagan. She hid from cameras. Took godless money. What did Hagan promise in return?"

Hagan and Dole are in a tight race for the Senate race.

Update: Post now includes a link to a copy of the letter.

Kay Hagan is an Atheist

I commend Dole for tying this PAC to Hagan

Re: Hagan gives Dole 24 hours to remove ad

"Kay Hagan Has Taught Sunday School Teacher"

Re: Hagan gives Dole 24 hours to remove ad

I find it more offensive that Hagan has those 2 hillbilly old men on that commercial that supposedly represent the average North Carolinian. She's mocking us folks.

She thinks we're a bunch of yahoos. This woman is the typical elitist that thinks she doesn't have to live by the same rules that we average citizens have to live by. What's good for the goose is good for the gander.

In October 2008, The Politico reported that Hagan's husband Chip Hagan III, a former Democratic county leader, had been a member of 1,000-member Greensboro Country Club for years, despite the club's de facto segregation and refusal to admit black members.

Dole, like all repoblicans, just LIE, LIE, LIE when they know they are going down to a MASSIVE defeat!! Smile! The Day of Liberation is at Hand!

Re: Hagan gives Dole 24 hours to remove ad

I went to the website which was linked and copied this about their PAC:

"It allows us to endorse political candidates who support our vision of a secular America, one where our right to freedom of and freedom From religion is valued and protected."

If they have a PAC they can raise money and give it to the candidate of their choice. I don't see anything wrong with Hagan taking the money nor Dole commenting.

We'll let the 24 hour clock run down and see what happens between the lawyers, the courts and most importantly, the bloggers.

Re: Hagan gives Dole 24 hours to remove ad

bluenc and religion are not commonly associated.

Re: Hagan gives Dole 24 hours to remove ad

There is nothing in this ad that alludes, states, nor suggest that Kay Hagan is Godless...

This ad merely shows where Kay Hagan is getting her money from. The Dole campaign, on September 15, 2008, (according to Dole's website) called out Hagan three weeks prior to the scheduled event. She knew the ramifications of her actions, yet she needed the money.

Kay Hagan has very quick to point out where Dole gets her money, yet when Dole returns the favor, she is offended. Seriously!

This does not state anything about Kay Hagan personally, in fact, research shows she is a Sunday school teacher. Actually that is a bit of irony....

I can not wait for the emotional BLUENC liberals to start attacking Dole about being a bigot, but face the facts...this ad is just pointing out where she is getting her money.
