U.S. Sen. Kay Hagan said two N.C. judges who have been nominated for a federal appeals court deserve a confirmation vote.
Hagan, a Greensboro Democrat, was one of several Democrats who spoke on the Senate floor Tuesday against what they said were Republican efforts to hold up appointees.
"The calendar is full of nominees who deserve a vote. In fact, there are two judicial nominees from North Carolina who I believe would be easily confirmed should they come up for a vote," Hagan said, adding that Judges James Wynn and Albert Diaz had strong support from a Senate committee and also have the support of Republican U.S. Sen. Richard Burr.
"Let's bring them up for a vote," Hagan said. "The government can't function without qualified appointees in place."
