Tony Gurley tweeted his big news today: He filed organizational papers Tuesday with the N.C. Board of Elections to run for Lt. Governor.
Gurley, a Wake County Commissioner, said back in February that he was mulling the possibility.
He won election as Wake commissioner in 2002, 2006 and last year, but has never run for another office.
Gurley, who owns pharmacies in Wake Forest and Raleigh, is also a partner in the Raleigh law firm Gurley & Cookson but is not active in the practice of law.
