Gun-rights group starts radio campaign to pressure Berger

The state's main gun-rights group is stepping up the pressure on Senate Leader Phil Berger, demanding he bring a long-pending bill to a floor vote.
Grass Roots N.C. announced this morning it has begun a radio campaign pushing for a vote on HB111, which would allow people with permits to carry concealed weapons to bring their firearms into restaurants that serve alcohol.
The bill has languished for more than a year, but showed signs of life last week when a Senate committee gave it a thumbs-up vote. But instead of heading to the floor, the bill was referred to the Senate Finance Committee, even though there is no apparent financial impact to the bill.
Its sponsor, Rep. Mark Hilton, a Republican from Catawba County, said he feared the referral was the kiss of death to the bill, and he blamed Berger.
But Berger said earlier this week he supports the bill. He said he wants to see how similar laws have fared in other states, and suggested it might not get a floor vote this session.
The Grass Roots radio spot highlights three recent restaurant homicides in North Carolina and several armed robberies. Meanwhile, opponents are marshalling their own efforts, challenging Hilton's claim that abuses by concealed-carry permit-holders are virtually non-existent.

Republicans Need to Move HB111 to the Senate Floor for a Vote

The only real opposition to HB111 is the press, which is currently occupied in grousing  about the passage of Amendment 1. The NC Senate will support HB111 if it reaches the floor for a vote. Message to Republican leaders: Stop being "girley men" and move HB111 out of the Finance Committee for a vote.

STOP RESTAURANT HOMICIDE

Forty-five states already allow some form of concealed carry in restaurants that serve alcohol. So, why does Senator Phil Berger (919) 733-5708 continue to deny North Carolina's over 250,000 sane, sober and law-abiding concealed carry permit-holders the same opportunity to STOP RESTAURANT HOMICIDE? Because he is busy "running out the clock" on  HB 111 ("Amend Firearms Law") which is currently in the Finance Committee. He is waiting for it to die because he fears the anti-gun left will make political hay using their usual false and misleading "Guns in Bars" and "Wild West" scare tactics in election year articles and political ads. Call Senator Berger now. Tell him to grow a spine and send HB111 to the Senate floor IMMEDIATELY.

How sad for Senator Berger

All he wants to do is stand in way of progress yelling "STOP!"

Why did we elect Republicans if all they plan on doing is acting like the Democrats they replaced?

And as for "Opponents" of concealed carry? There really aren't any. The local anti-gun group has gone broke and dumped their Executive Director. The national level anti-gun groups are too busy with other things to come down to North Carolina to get spanked. All that's left is the usual Leftist suspects who vote for anything that increases the power of the State over the power of the people.
