Guffaws from the press corps

What recession, wars, rogue nuclear nations?

N.C. State University grad Robert Gibbs has the White House press corps in stitches, reports Rob Christensen.

During his first four months as President Barack Obama’s press secretary, there have been 600 instances of laughter during his briefings according to Politico.

Yes, somebody is keeping count.

Dana Perino, George W. Bush’s last press secretary, elicited 57 laughs in her first four months. Scott McClellan, another Bush press secretary, got just 66 laughs in his first four months.

Gibbs even got more laughs than Tony Snow, the fast-quipping Bush press secretary, who got 217 laughs during his first four months.

Conservatives view all this laughter darkly — signs that the White House press corps is cozying up to the Obama administration.

But N.C. State hasn't had a lot to laugh about lately — with the subpeonas and all that — so maybe it's good that one Wolfpacker is enjoying himself.

Re: Guffaws from the press corps

I voted for Obama...still respect him....and think he will be a great president.

But, this adoration for Gibbs is obviously liberal bias. This dude is practically incoherent, can't string two sentences together without looking like an idiot. Maybe they are laughing at him, which would explain a lot.

Looking into rear view mirrors only will cause a wreck

James - I know you claim to be an "progressive liberal," or whatever other code word to shield the fact that you are a Kool-Aid drinker. Regardless, at some point my friend, it is imperative you stop focusing so much George W. Bush. He is no longer in office. I know that you need justification to rationalize your disappointment in the "Messiah," but seriously how many times are you going to kick the dead horse.

I am sure Gosh will try to come to your rescue and begin with his personal attacks against claiming I am some right-wing nut job, so let me go ahead and preface him.

Bush did a good job with national security, he DID push for some regulations of Fannie and Freddie, he kept taxes lower.

Bush did a POOR job on expanding government in education and health care and failed completely on immigration reform.

Overall, I did appreciate Bush serving as President, but I am not so blinded by the light of one to fail to recognize his faults.

Who is William Gates? If this were Bush - the media and Democrats would be all over him...

See the double standard yet James?

Those who are getting their funding increased are laughing too

The war profiteers are laughing all the way to the bank. On April 9, 2009, the new administration, headed by the allegedly 'anti-war' candidate Barry Soetoro requested, in a final emergency supplemental, an additional $77.1 billion in war spending. Estimates are that approximately $52.7 billion of that will be for Iraq and the remaining $24.4 billion for Afghanistan.

Meanwhile here in North Carolina, its budget cutting time for health and human service programs.

Re: Guffaws from the press corps

I think citizenopinionated has it right, this proves that Obama Administration is a joke.

Re: Guffaws from the press corps

Well the Obama adminisytration does have a 80% favorable rating from the Press Corp. And GE which owns NBC and MSNBC have been doing everything they can to give Obama cover.

Speaking of jokes

Re: Guffaws from the press corps

Just shows that this administration is a joke...

Thanks for proving the point that many of us have had for so long...

Ironic considering the economy, foreign affairs and other issues facing the country are no laughing matter...
