Under the Dome

Grace Furman, who worked for Kerr Scott back in the 1940's, dies at 105

Grace Furman, possibly North Carolina's oldest Democrat, has died at age 105.

Furman worked for Kerr Scott when he was agriculture commissioner, when he was governor(elected 1948) and when he was senator(elected 1954.) She also worked in the campaigns of Kerr's son, Bob Scott for lieutenant governor(1964) and governor(1968.)

She was well enough to attend the funerals for both Bob and Jessie Rae Scott in recent years. She lived in Springmoor retirement community and her mind was sharp until the end.
