Got a question? Ask Dome

Got a question about state government? Ask the Dome!

In recent editions of our new feature, we've answered how the lieutenant governor is notified (or not) that the governor is away, whether legislators can sell their seats, how the governor's Washington office works, and which Republicans voted for the Democratic leaders in the General Assembly.

But to keep the feature running, we need to hear from you. What's your question about state government? E-mail it to dome@newsobserver.com or post in the comments below.

Re: Got a question? Ask Dome

When will NC join the other 21+ states to declare our sovereignty from the Federal government? States rights defense is part of the rEVOLution!
Time for Governess Perdue to take charge of this action now!

Re: Got a question? Ask Dome

What is the process for selecting the private operators of the NC State License Tag and Motor Vehilcle Title centers. I believe it was once a patronage issue but I am not sure now. Who decides and what is the criteria?

Re: Got a question? Ask Dome

Probably not in the near future. If it looks like any of the bills to boost pay are getting traction, I may revisit the issue, but for the time being there are some bigger fish to fry.

Good suggestion, though. It's definitely a subject worthy of discussion.

Re: Got a question? Ask Dome

I see the paper has dome many good series. Like on probation is one recent example. Will you be doing a comparison between part-time versus full-time legislators on the local and state level?

Re: Got a question? Ask Dome

The questions I want to ask are not exactly about state government. They involve where Congressional candidates live. Does North Carolina have a law where Congressmen are required to live in the districts they represent? If not, have there been instances of a Congressman living outside of his or her district? If there are, what are some examples?
