GOP links Hagan, Godless PAC

Godless AmericansThe N.C. Republican Party is linking Kay Hagan to the Godless Americans PAC.

A mailer from the party authorized by U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Dole's campaign notes that Hagan appeared at a Sept. 15 fundraiser hosted by author Wendy Kaminer and Woody Kaplan.

Both are leaders of the Secular Coalition of America, which advocates for atheists and humanists in public policy. Kaplan also sits on the advisory board of the Godless Americans political action committee, which advocates for nonbelievers.

"Godless Americans PAC wants to remove 'Under God' from the Pledge of Allegiance," the mailer says. "And now, they want Kay Hagan in the U.S. Senate."

Inside, it says the PAC supports political candidates who are atheists, wants to "force the Boy Scouts to accept atheists and homosexuals as troop leaders," and seeks to "remove any reference to God in the public arena, including eliminating the Christmas holiday."

Re: GOP links Hagan, Godless PAC

Sounds like you need to check up your trust in the lord. Our founding fathers
of this country were Godly men, look were we are today. The fact here is that
she took money from an ungodly group of people. Maybe she is like the rest of
the crooks in DC they all talk out of both sides of there mouths. I'm sure when Obama gets there he will to.

Re: GOP links Hagan, Godless PAC

You're ignoring the quotes from friendlyatheist.com and daylightatheism.org, which are printed as if atheists getting involved in politics is somehow intrinsically bad. Both of these blogs have now commented on how bigoted and hateful Dole's campaign has become.

Sorry, your repeated refrain of how "emotional" people get when they are gratuitously insulted doesn't wash. Dole insulted atheists back in August with a press release back when Hagan had the audacity to meet with an organization that fights for the rights of atheists, and she is only getting more desperate with even more shrill attacks on atheists as "vile." Dole is the one trying to manipulate people's emotions by appealing to religious bigotry.

Re: GOP links Hagan, Godless PAC

"But, behind our backs she's the the guest of honor at a fundraiser hosted by the most vile, radical liberals in America."

Again...the flyer is only saying that these two individuals (Wendy and Woody) are not people that represent the ideals us North Carolinians hold strong.

You are reading too deep into this flyer and trying to make this issue based on emotions.

Please find me one comment made by Dole calling atheist vile

Re: GOP links Hagan, Godless PAC

Wow, you really don't understand English, do you?

Yes, I KNOW what "vile" means; posting the definition only digs you in deeper.

The Dole campaign went out of its way to insult atheists, as a group, by calling them "vile." Dole doesn't deserve to be in the Senate.

Re: GOP links Hagan, Godless PAC

See there you go playing the emotional card.

Vile = highly offensive, unpleasant, or objectionable: vile slander. ACCORDING TO DICTIONARY.COM

I consider this GODLESS AMERICA PAC as vile as well, because I find them as people highly offensive and unpleasant. They are trying to enact legislation that is against majority will in this country. This country was found on the principles of majority rule and minority rights. Your rights as an atheist have not been encroached nor taken away. Therefore, if you had half a brain and the ability to think for yourself instead pandering to the masses through an emotional tool always citing the victim mentality, you would see that this ad, AGAIN, is merely pointing out where Hagan gets her money.

YET AGAIN, this ad points to the fact that this organization to does not accurately represent the will and beliefs of many North Carolinians.

Re: GOP links Hagan, Godless PAC

Sorry, it's Dole playing the emotion card, using charged terms like "vile."

And you might want to re-read (or read for the first time) the constitution; the majority can't vote away the minority's rights.

I can understand why someone like yourself would support a bigot like Dole, but a lot of people don't like bigots being in congress.

Re: GOP links Hagan, Godless PAC

Elizabeth Dole isn't just pointing out where Hagan is getting funds raised; Dole is actively printing vicious slurs against them.

Here is a DIRECT QUOTE from the flyer:

"But behind our backs, she's [Hagan] the guest of honor at a fundraiser hosted by the most vile, radical liberals in America."

ELIZABETH DOLE is describing them as "vile." This is every bit as bad as describing the members of a Jewish group as "vile," or a Catholic group as "vile," or a Muslim group as "vile."

Such a religious bigot has no place in the US Senate.

Re: GOP links Hagan, Godless PAC

This flyer is pointing out where Kay Hagan is getting her money. Dole is attacked for money from oil companies, so why not just point out the facts.

This flyer merely states that some North Carolinians may not favor the stances and efforts of this particular organization.

It says NOTHING about religious freedom of any individual. I have read the ad twice now and again I SEE NOTHING THAT OPPOSES ANYONES' RELIGIOUS FREEDOMS NOR THE UNITED STATES CONSTITUTION.

Your screen name implies that you are an atheist...are you a member of Godless PAC?

Do you believe that "under God" should be taken out of the pledge?

Taking it out is against my religious freedom. What is fair for one is fair for the other.

OR if you would like to take this idiotic claim a little bit further.

Atheist that believe that "under God" should be out of the pledge can just not say it when they say the pledge, as it is your religious freedom that allows you to say or not say what you please without facing penalty or punishment.

Stop being emotional and step back before you attack.

Re: GOP links Hagan, Godless PAC

Elizabeth Dole's unbelievable bigotry against atheists shows she has no appreciation for religious freedom and constitutional rights. Perhaps Dole also thinks Jews or Catholics are "vile"; that's the problem with religious bigotry, once you start, there's no logical place to stop.

She does not belong in the US Senate.
