Gingrich helps Jones raise $70k

Walter JonesFormer House Speaker Newt Gingrich helped $70,000 Thursday night for U.S. Rep. Walter Jones, according to the Jones campaign.

More than 160 people attended the event at the Pitt County home of former state GOP Chairman Ferrell Blount and his wife Lynda.

The event is likely to help Jones, who represents the 3rd district, beyond just the cash. Jones faces a primary challenge from his political right, Joe McLaughlin. And Gingrich is well regarded in conservative circles.

Re: Gingrich helps Jones raise $70k

I was an attendee at this event and there as only about 65 people there, not the 160 the Jones camp reports. Conversely, in Wayne County (the same night) Joe Mclaughlin had over 200 people at his event and has continued his momentum.
Maybe primary voters should ask Mr. Jones why he is endorsed by the Ultra Liberal Organization the ACLU. Mr. Jones pretends to be a conservative, but why did he vote to impeach Dick Cheyney? Or, why did Mr. Jones vote against the Troop Surge in Iraq that would help to protect our men and women fighting the jihad in Iraq? Why has Mr. Jones voted for 46 of 50 earmarked bills in this session that included two tax increases? Why didn't Mr. Jones have the leadership that it took to say that "Earmarks are bad for the American people?"
If Mr. Jones had his way we would cut and run in Iraq rendering our investments there meaningless.
Personally, I stand with Joe Mclaughlin. Joe is a true conservative that would not abandon his party or the Troops of the United States of America who are defending our country. Mr. Jones bemoans the 4,000 lives we've lost there in the last 6 years to prevent terrorism, but he forgets that we lost 3,200 people in about 45 minutes on 9/11/2001. Fighting these extremists in the Middle East will require leadership that understands this initiative. I encourage everyone in district 3 to check Joe Mclaughlin's website, Joeforcongress.com
Early voting starts April 17th. Please help me send this liberal congressman back to Farmville where he belongs.
