Five. Five Congressmen on TV.

North Carolina Public Television is planning a call-in show on health care that will be brought to you by the letters "D" and "R."

UNC-TV intends to air the live show 9 p.m. Tuesday. All members of the state's congressional delegation have been invited. So far, Democratic Reps. David Price, Bob Etheridge, Brad Miller and Mel Watt have accepted, according to a UNC-TV spokesman. Sen. Richard Burr, a Republican confirmed his participation Thursday afternoon.

Sen. Kay Hagan (D), and Reps. G.K. Butterfield (D), Howard Coble (R), Virginia Foxx (R), Walter Jones (R), Sue Myrick (R), Mike McIntyre (D) and Heath Shuler (D) have declined the recently issued invitations.

Reps. Larry Kissell (D) and Patrick McHenry (R) have not yet responded.

Perhaps UNC-TV should sweeten the pot with a few tote bags and mugs.

Update: Post includes updated list of who has decided to participate.

D Congressmen on TV for Town Hall. Paul Terrell not asked.

Giggle box must not know math...

It's true. I don't. I still think 18 percent is a testament to my brilliance and being a III'rd just makes me three times more accomplished. I'm an idiot.

Re: Five. Five Congressmen on TV.

I don't understand the fascination with how often our Congressmen and Congresswomen are in the state. They are elected to represent us in Washington. That being said, I agree with TruthSquad that Hagen made a big deal about Dole not being here, so it is hypocritical of Hagen to show such little interest in being in the state. But, that's just a politician being a politician, right? They could actually mean what they say and say what they mean.

Re: Five. Five Congressmen on TV.

Is it just me, or has Kay Hagen been very ABSENT from the state during this recess? I have seen where all other elected officials are out and about, meeting with constituents. You would think Hagan would want to come back and let the people of North Carolina know where she stands on the issues - considering she slammed Senator Dole during the 2008 campaign for not being visible in NC.

Re: Four D Congressmen on TV for Town Hall. R's say no way.

Giggle box must not know math but 4 R's and 4 D's have refused. So I guess the Dems are afraid too?

Re: Five. Five Congressmen on TV.

Since Price has chickened out on a Real and open to all Townhall forum, Republican Roche held one tonight in Chapell Hill.

Re: Five. Five Congressmen on TV.

PaulTerrell, you oh-so-intelligent sage, that could be because this is for congressmen, not candidates.

I look forward to Burr getting owned.

Re: Five. Five Congressmen on TV.

Why hasn't UNC-TV invited candidates Randall and Roche oh gigglebox? because maybe they are afraid of showing up Price and Miller?

Four D Congressmen on TV for Town Hall. R's say no way.

I wonder why Republicans are so scared of the real public?

Ohhhhh, that whole vote thing last November. Gotcha!
