Dale Folwell will not run for state treasurer.
The Winston-Salem Republican said today that he would not run for the Republican nomination for treasurer, instead seeking re-election to his state House seat, the Winston-Salem Journal reports.
Folwell said that he had heard from many supporters that he could be more successful staying in the House, even though he is in minority party.
"God blessed me with two good options here," he said
He had raised $32,862 in this election cycle, leaving him with $133,605 in cash on hand at the end of December, according to his campaign finance reports.
His rival, state Rep. Bill Daughtridge, raised $136,690 in the same time period, but he spent more, leaving him with $78,934 in cash on hand, his reports showed.
Folwell was definitely frugal. He once called Dome late on a Sunday night, because that's when his campaign cell phone had free minutes.

Re: Janet Cowell
The possibility of North Carolina's Presidential Primary being relevent will likely assist Cowell. Women coming out to support Hillary will look to her, and progressives and young voters coming out for Obama will likely find her appealing as well.
