Fact-checking Jimmy Fallon

Virginia FoxxYou might not want to turn to Jimmy Fallon for the news.

As noted previously, the late-night talk show host sang a "slow jam" about the federal stimulus package that highlighted U.S. Rep. Virginia Foxx.

But a spokesman for Foxx said that the lyrics were a bit off.

At one point, Fallon said that Foxx wanted to "play with" the bill a little, while back-up singer Tariq Trotter noted, in a bizarrely sultry way, that she "added an amendment."

Not true, said spokesman Aaron Groen.

"The stimulus package was considered under a 'closed rule,' meaning that no one could offer amendments," he said in an e-mail to Dome. "But I guess 'closed rule' doesn’t make for as good of a slow jam."

In all fairness, his e-mail was in response to my question.

Re: Fact-checking Jimmy Fallon

It's good to know that lawmakers are interested in the same thing I am: the antics of Jimmy Fallon.
