John Edwards is trying to count Hillary Clinton out of the race.
On the campaign trail and in new ads in New Hampshire, the Democratic presidential candidate has argued that the race is really down to him and Barack Obama.
Poll numbers and campaign coffers, however, show him in third place in that state.
Edwards argued that "polls are meaningless" and an adviser pointed out that Clinton came in third in Iowa. Some strategists think a close third for Edwards in New Hampshire could keep him viable.
Meantime, Edwards is arguing that Obama is too "academic" to fight for change effectively. (Char-O)
