Re: Dome Office Pool: Nov. 4
November 3, 2008 - 10:52am — DustinIngallsPresident: Obama, 49.8%, McCain, 49.3%, Barr 0.8%
Governor: 49.6% Perdue, 48.7% McCrory, 1.6% Munger (Perdue ekes it out because of Obama's turnout operation and push for straight-ticket voting and her base among eastern North Carolinians who dislike Charlotte elitism. Munger will attract a greater proportion, if not number, of votes than Barr because of his entertaining debate presence, Duke constituency, and some cranky independents' disgust with the two major-party candidates.)
Senate: Hagan 52.3%, Dole 47.4%, Cole 0.2%
Auditor: Merritt by about 3 or 4 points because of greater name rec in a low-information race and his popularity among GOP activists for sticking it to Easley and the legislative Dems
Treasurer: Cowell by 6
Ag: Troxler by 2
Re: Dome Office Pool: Nov. 4
November 3, 2008 - 9:16am — domewatcherSome time ago I requested information on receiving an autographed RTB photo. I am not sure if I received the response posted below or I dreamed it. Either way, it’s probably right on the mark:

We received your informational request for an autographed photo of Mr. RTB. As you can well imagine, we receive thousands of these requests daily. Due to the immense number of requests, Mr. RTB has turned these requests over to his agent. Mr. RTB has photos available in several collections, both in black & white as well as dramatic color. The individual photos range in price from $440 to $1,500 (prices quoted in pre-buyout dollars.)
I have referred your request to Mr. RTB’s agent and you should be contacted within the next 12-24 weeks. These requests are overloading the system since Mr. RTB achieved “movie star status.” His agent tells me that requests for RTB photos are fourth in number…..behind Flavor Flav, Opie, and the big bearded Palin supporter. (My personal favorite is the “McSteamy” pose but many prefer the Frank Sinatra lithograph (b/w only) - hat tilted back and sport coat draped over the shoulder - a must have for every collector of newspaper people photos.)
P.S. We also have a few holly bushes for sale (cash only) and this is an excellent time of year for planting. Whether it’s bushes or photos, we are your one-source news headquarters….. who receive strength from the people.
Thanks for reading.
P.S. We are introducing the “sprawled on the ground” series which should be available for Christmas giving. Additionally, a calendar will be offered which will show various newspaper men "sprawled on the ground" at your favorite Palin rally.

Bev's lies re: Rural Roads
October 31, 2008 - 10:03pm — concerned53Interesting truths about Mayor McCrory's position on Rural Roads vs Beverly's lies.
Fiction:
Pat McCrory won’t pave roads in rural areas.
Fact:
According to the News & Observer, “the claim that McCrory questioned whether rural roads should be paved is a stretch. In 2000, at a meeting of North Carolina mayors (when he was representing Charlotte as Mayor), McCrory said that the state's policy of building paved roads to every community encourages sprawl, according to an Associated Press account.” The N&O article continued, “Is it accurate? Not entirely. The ad makes a leap in claiming that McCrory questions whether rural roads should be paved. It's true that he has lobbied for more road funding for metropolitan areas, particularly Charlotte (as a Mayor of any town/city should be doing in their capacity).”
The truth is that Pat McCrory wants to remove the politics from transportation decisions and put an end to the “old-style” politics of pitting one region against another. McCrory has pledged as Governor to transform DOT and to develop a 25-50 year transportation plan that takes into account the needs and expected future needs of the entire state.
Out of control State Senator
