Dole: Not done with public service

Elizabeth Dole is about to leave the U.S. Senate, but she says she's not done with public service.

Dole, the Salisbury Republican who lost her re-election bid on Tuesday, told The Associated Press that she has not focused on her future yet. Dole said she has spent the week with family and friends, and working on new job leads for members of her staff.

But Dole, who once ran the American Red Cross, said she has no plans to retire from public service.

Re: Dole: Not done with public service

Dole's idea of public service is a combination of: hosting fundraisers for Bush Rangers and other frauds, getting paid $40,000 for 30 minute speaking engagements where she extols the virtue of a country where you can make $40,000 in 30 minutes, and forming charitable foundations that give the bare minimum to the needy in order to retain tax-exempt status.

No doubt she'll continue with "public service" work, at least until she hits the $100 million personal wealth landmark.

Dole classy to the bitter end

I wonder if her forthcoming free Face-lifts for Upper Class Klown Unknown mistresses foundation is acception applications for Internet Communications Director yet.

Please go quietly into the realm of Viagra and Pepsi commercials Liddy. Your services to the Bush administration are no longer needed in your adopted state.

Re: Dole: Not done with public service

I thought Liddy looked ungodly in her concession speech. Appeared evil and ready to spit fire.

Re: Dole: Not done with public service

She should start a Joseph McCarthy-like Committee on Un-Godly Activities. She can hunt down and expose atheists from all corners of public life! Sunday teachers, beware!! You aren't immune to falling under the scrutiny of Liddy Dole's God Squad.

Re: Dole: Not done with public service

Headline should read: "Dole: considering returning to public service after six year hiatus"

Re: Dole: Not done with public service

Kicking Bush when he is down? That man has been stomping the soul out of this country for eight years. Kicking a lady when she is down? She's FINE. She's going back to Kansas and will never have to worry for money or luxury. Meanwhile, she set the tone for her own send off with hers to Kay Hagan.

Re: Dole: Not done with public service

No, I don't see any evidence of that. I admired McCain's speech and have appreciated similar messages coming from GOP leadership, but the pundits are mostly as vicious as ever and the remarks on this blog and others have followed suit with the same old same old 'tude.

I'm kind of tired of playing nice with people who aren't. Dole wasn't, so she isn't getting any sweet send offs from this citizen.

Re: Dole: Not done with public service

Big Guy,

I think you may have misunderstood. We are to come together to praise Obama and the newly elected Democrats.

But kicking a man when he is down is perfectly in order. And kicking a lady when she is down is considered classy.

Re: Dole: Not done with public service

I thought we were going to change the tone in this country and come together as one people. No?

Red Shoes

I think it's very sweet that Dole wants to perform public service. Maybe she can revive Jerry Falwell's "Moral Majority" by starting a Kansas chapter.

Did anyone ever pack up those ruby red slippers for delivery to her?
