Dole, Hagan meet before debate

Like prizefighters before a bout, U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Dole and Kay Hagan met up this morning.

Just after 10 a.m., as the hour approached for her to debate Democratic Senate nominee this morning, Dole was greeting the lawyers gathered in the hallway of the Atlantic Beach Sheraton, just outside the hotel bar.

She had just finished exchanging pleasantries with former Young Lawyers chairwoman Kim Sieredzki of Clayton when Hagan walked past.

Without missing a beat, Dole offered her hand and Hagan accepted.

"Good morning," Dole said. "Good to see you Kay."

Hagan smiled and walked on. Without breaking her smile, Dole moved onto the next potential voter.

For her part, Sieredzki said she hasn't made up her mind. She hoped to attend the debate if her kids didn't return too soon.

"I like her," she said of Dole. "But I'm still considering."
