Dole and the 92 percent

U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Dole has backed President Bush a lot.

A recent TV ad by the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee attacks the Salisbury Republican notes that "92 percent of the time she votes with Bush."

The number comes from Congressional Quarterly's annual ranking of Senate votes.  The Washington-based news service tracks the percentage of the time that "a lawmaker's vote on the floor matched a clear presidential position."

Here are the annual figures for Dole:

2003: 98 percent
2004: 92 percent
2005: 93 percent
2006: 90 percent
2007: 85 percent

That averages out to 91.6 percent support for Bush over five years.

Re: Dole and the 92 percent

Isn't it odd how she went from a mindless follower when she was far from election, 98%, to a slightly less-mindless follower as she approaches reelection?

Re: Dole and the 92 percent

And look how support for an unpopular president plummeted as re-election neared!
