The N.C. Military Foundation has spent $80,270 lobbying the federal government so far.

According to lobbying disclosure forms filed with the Senate Office of Public Records, the nonprofit founded by Lt. Gov. Beverly Perdue has paid about $40,000 a year for federal lobbying.

After starting in September of 2006, it paid $20,270 to lobbyist Jimmy Broughton and two assistants, Kevin Jones and John Mashburn, the former general counsel to Sen. Judd Gregg.

In 2007, it paid $40,000 to Broughton, Mashburn and Mark Harkins, the former chief of staff to U.S. Rep. Brad Miller.

And in the first quarter of 2008, it paid $20,000 to Broughton, Mashburn and Harkins.
