According to federal tax forms, the group spent $212,000 on consultants and $72,718 on the salary of executive director Will Austin and $1,790 on a part-time administrative assistant.
Austin also received $2,736 in other compensation and $8,589 on expense reimbursements. H
The group was funded by $500,000 from five North Carolina companies — Wachovia, Progress Energy, Duke Energy and Charlotte defense contractors General Dynamics and Parsons Corp. Commercial Technology Group.
In one section, the group describes the dues and its mission:
"Membership dues are received and expended in order to support the growth of North Carolina's defense and security industry; including attracting defense-related businesses to North Carolina and pursuing initiatives at the state and federal levels that will support defense-related economic growth in North Carolina."
The forms are for the time period from Oct. 1, 2006 to Sept. 30, 2007.
