Democrats seek help for Obama agenda

The Democrats want your help in promoting President Barack Obama's agenda.

Organizing for America, a project of the Democratic National Committee, will be visiting Durham and Asheville next week as part of a "listening tour" in North Carolina. The stated purpose is for people attending "to offer ideas on how OFA should organize in their community to support President Obama's priorities."

OFA is scheduled to be at St. Joseph's AME Church in Durham at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, and at the Mountain Java Coffee Shop in Asheville at 7 p.m. on Thursday.

The group says it plans to make visits to several other North Carolina cities, including Raleigh and Chapel Hill.

Re: Democrats seek help for Obama agenda

It is embarrasing to be banning plastic grocery bags in elected counties and not getting a budget passed on time. It is not acceptable for the party in total control of the General Assembly to be unable to accomplish that important goal. Where is the Democratic Party? They were not at the Raleigh Independence Day Tea Party and have been absent here in this state for years.

Re: Democrats seek help for Obama agenda

will hope to ORGANIZE a group to greet OFA in AshEvil on Thurs!

Re: Democrats seek help for Obama agenda

isaac, your IGNORANCE is GLOWING once again, dude.

Re: Democrats seek help for Obama agenda

ACORN now known as COI will not be permitted to take census in this household.

Harping on ACORN.

To my knowledge, there is a rumor circulating that ACORN will take over the 2010 Census!

According to uninformed sources ACORN will take a head count, register you to vote and actually fill out an absentee ballot for you. They will also give you free health care if you sign an Obama do not resuscitate the economy health care power of attorney.

According to one imaginary ACORN volunteer (LOL):

“We get one dollar per head for everybody we count. And a dollar for each new voter registration. And a dollar for a signed absentee ballot. Then if the person agrees with the Obama do not resuscitate the economy pledge we get another dollar. I have already registered Mickey Mouse and his whole family. Mice really do reproduce quickly. I made an additional $62.00 when Minnie went into labor. And we get to count dogs and cats and birds and snakes and pigs and chickens and just about anything. Old cars too! This is the most fun job I ever had and the pay is great. I am helping to build a strong America and we are saving America lots of money. By the time we finish Obama will have over 14 billion votes for President so we can dispense will that silly and costly election. And we are helping to build a strong America. We are the front lines in Obama’s free health care. We give out aspirin and antacid pills and tell people to drink plenty of water and exercise. That is the government option and it works well. I never realized I would become a doctor! I’ve got to go now out to the cricket farm. They sell crickets to the fishermen and I get a dollar to register each one of them to vote. How can I get the crickets to sit still long enough to count them? OK then, let me run. By the way.....you getting’ any of that stimulus money yet???”

What will they come up with next?

ACORN......it was good then and it's even better now!

ACORN is like a wild card and is still good for plenty of laughs. It's like mentioning the name of Joey Buttafuoco. ACORN is a rallying cry like "Remember the Maine." ACORN is an American icon and should remain in play for years to come.

The below lines are, I think, from an ACORN training video entitled, "Democracy in Action:"

Mr.Henry: "Hey big man, let me hold a dollar."
Mr. ACORN: "OK....but only if you vote for my man. And don't spend it all in one place.......and save some for the upcoming state and federal tax increases."

Re: Democrats seek help for Obama agenda

Bush was "Pay it Later" and now Obama has to pay it back. Why be obstinate? Go ahead and admit that Obama is having to clean up GWB's mess. It will not hurt you physically to admit this. Harping on ACORN has got to be getting old and unexciting. Go to a tea party tomorrow and find a new talking point to repeat over and over.

Re: Democrats seek help for Obama agenda

And his policies and spending will eventually put this country into bankruptcy. Bush did a poor job on limiting spending, but we were attacked on 9/11 so I can understand spending alot of money on our military and intelligence to protect us from another attack. But Comrade Obama's spending - both in the stimulus package and his proposals on health care and all of the costly promises he made during the election, are on a course to bankrupt the US in the coming decades. Bush was poor as far as spending too much money, Obama is horrific.

Listen up..........

The organizers have organized a "listening tour" (not to be confused with a "raise you tax tour). Top ten statements they might hear:

10. Is this another one of those speaker deals that Ms. Easley arranged?
9. I have a 2008 Chevrolet Impala? When can I bring it in for an oil change?
8. Other than ACORN, do you see any other similarities in the election in Iran?
7. Next time y’all are doing a tour of the state let us know. It would save the Gov some gas for the airplane. We’ve got one you know. An airplane.
6. What will you do when you have taxed everybody to the point that there is no more money?
5. Did your wife pay the full $540 for those Lanvin shoes she wore to the food bank or did they give you the Presidential deal?
4. Have you ever heard of the concept of cutting spending? You know, like spending less. Ordering off the dollar menu. The 2 for 2. Buy one, get one. Something along those lines. I believe it's a concept of Adam Smith.
3. Have you met RTB yet? He’s up there in Washington. Maybe you can get him to ask you some prearranged questions.
2. Do you and Dumplin’ share ideas on what new taxes to impose?
1. Is it true that ACORN volunteers are settling in the West Bank?

Re: Democrats seek help for Obama agenda

We'll help Obama and the Democrats. We'll vote his cronies out in 2010 and send him packing in 2012!

Re: Democrats seek help for Obama agenda

I don't think they are as high up as the ACORN crowd.

Correct. ACORN takes it's orders from Bill Ayers, and I built a time machine to contact the Weather Underground to make sure he takes his orders from me.

So, no, ACORN had nothing to do with the most popular political party in America coming to a state they won already to hold town halls.

But the "ACORN" thing was still good. It rings so true in a state that can only elect a republican to inspect elevators.

If ONLY this weren't a Democracy, huh? Then the five really smart guys on DOME could fix everything, just like Bush.

Re: Democrats seek help for Obama agenda

It was a two word question....all I was looking for was a one word answer.

CLINTON!

Re: Democrats seek help for Obama agenda

I have never been prouder of a president than I am now. For the first time in years, I can stand to hear the sound of the voice of our nation's leader without cringing.

He is articulate; he is poised; and more significantly, he is intelligent.

OH HAPPY DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Democrats seek help for Obama agenda

I don't think they are as high up as the ACORN crowd. These people are on a "listening tour." They may or may not pass out dollar bills.

Can you hear me now? It takes less muscles to listen than it does to smile.
