Democrats launch ad titled 'GOP war on women'

The N.C. Democratic Party sent an email to supporters asking for money to keep airing a television advertisement that bashes Republicans lawmakers for waging a war on women.

The minute-long spot (above) is apparently airing in the Raleigh and Charlotte markets, according to the state party. But spokesman Walton Robinson refused to give specifics about the cost of the ad buy or the channels where it is running.

Republican party officials suggest it's a stunt -- and they can't find evidence of it appearing on TV. "With Perdue’s chief fundraiser indicted for campaign infractions, the Democrats have chosen to try to fundraise solely off of fear," state GOP spokesman Rob Lockwood said in a statement. "Families are hurting because of Perdue’s failures, and this ad suggests that she believes her best bet for re-election is to scare people." (For the record, "fear" is a bipartisan electioneering tool.)

The ad features Democratic Gov. Bev Perdue, who has targeted the Republican legislature frequently as she made a series of vetoes this year. A pollster also suggests a potential path to re-election in 2012 is by attacking the legislature. (The ad disclaimer, however, said it wasn't authorized by any candidate.)

In the spot, Perdue said the GOP lawmakers represent "the fringe of North Carolina public policy decision making." The ad shows House Speaker Thom Tillis and House Republican leader Paul "Skip" Stam.

The "war" claim in the ad -- as touted by Raleigh state Rep. Deborah Ross and others -- is based on the budget cuts to education, child care subsidies and Medicaid.

War, what is it good for?

How about that smoking ban in restaurants and other public places?  Women finally get the right to smoke in public and all of a sudden smoking is banned in many places.  This ban was obviously aimed at women.

We are finally getting out

We are finally getting out of Iraq and now taking the war to women. I was hoping for a period of peace. I hope we can reach some understanding with women. Sure women can be hard to understand......but war? Divorce maybe. My wife and I normally use the silent treatment on each other. War seems a little over the top.

Give peace a chance.

Whip up voters with FEAR

If there is one party that monopolizes the "Fear" tactic it is the demo's.

Just watching old Dumplin's statement was scary,  her comment related to not letting the Republican's lead  (her favorite line) the people of the great state of North Carolina is comical.  But we should trust old "I had no idea that these crimes in my campaign were going on, I'm shocked I tell ya,  should scare the he11 out of everyone out there.  After all, ignorance, lack of awareness, finger pointing, use of scapegoats and never taking responsibility for actions by an elected official is truely frightening.
