Democrats file complaint about Dole

Dole official

The N.C. Democratic Party has filed a complaint against U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Dole.

In a letter today to the heads of the Senate Ethics Committee, chairman Jerry Meek writes that Dole has used the same picture of herself on both her official Senate Web site and on her private re-election campaign site

"The use of such a photograph is an improper use of official government property and may confuse and mislead voters who compare the two websites," he wrote Sens. Barbara Boxer and John Cornyn.

Dole Campaign

Under Senate Ethics Rules, government resources cannot be used for campaign purposes.

Meek argues that since the photograph of Dole is the only one on her Web site, it "can only be assumed" that it is her official photograph, and therefore can't be used on the campaign site.

Dole is apparently fond of the photograph. Her Senate staff asked Dome to replace an older picture of her on our political profiles page on our Web site with it several months ago.

Re: Democrats file complaint about Dole

A wise politico said long ago: I do not care what they say about me as long as they say my name often and spell it right. Putting a flattering picture of Dole and mentioning her name constantly only puts her in the public eye more than she has been since taking office!. I dont know what genius thought this up, but I don't even remember who is running against her!! She ought to pay the Demos for all those pretty pictures and ads.

Re: Democrats file complaint about Dole

This is illegal in the same sense that driving 35.5 mph in a 35 zone is illegal. So what? Someone right clicked the photo, hit copy, and pasted it on the other site?

Good Lord....if the Democrats are just pathetic on this one.

Re: Democrats file complaint about Dole

Rules are rules and I guess that they busted Senator Dole, but this should send a message to all Republicans. The Democrats are more concerned with gaining control of the Presidency and Supreme Court (as they already have Congress), than creating policy that will fundamentally help the average citizen in NC.

Cheating? Does the Democrat delegation in the General Assembly have room to talk, except through glass windows in the jailhouse?

Re: Democrats file complaint about Dole

Re: Democrats file complaint about Dole

I love the Right's position that it is not a violation if they get caught doing something. How did that work for Delay, Libby, etc.

Re: Democrats file complaint about Dole

Why not argue that it's 2 different photographs, they just happen to look the same? Meek is weak.... nah, that's too easy to use. My apologies.

Re: Democrats file complaint about Dole

My word what a schmuck. As much misuse has been made of North Carolinian's taxes by his party in Raleigh he has no room to talk about a photograph.c
