The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee launched a new ad today criticizing state Sen. David Rouzer, the Johnston County Republican who is challenging Lumberton’s U.S. Rep. Mike McIntyre for the 7th Congressional District seat.
According to Roll Call, this is the DCCC's second ad. It seeks to tie Rouzer to Republican VP candidate Rep. Paul Ryan’s budget.
“David Rouzer’s budget would essentially end Medicare,” the narrator says in the ad. “That’s not a North Carolina value.”
Rouzer is just one of 50 Republicans the DCCC is seeking to link with Ryan's controversial budget.
UPDATE: Rouzer accused Democrats with trying to distract voters with “lies and distortions.”
“Medicare as we know it has already ended - because Barack Obama and the Democrats chose to cut $700 Billion from Medicare to pay for their takeover of healthcare,” said Jessica Wood, Rouzer’s spokeswoman. “That they have the nerve to attack David for supporting the kind of plan that would restore the money they cut back to Medicare and protect and preserve the program is not only predictable - it's pathetic.”
