Daughtridge: Wright should go

Bill DaughtridgeState Rep. Bill Daughtridge thinks Rep. Thomas Wright should resign.

The Rocky Mount Republican, who is running for state treasurer, told Dome this afternoon that yesterday's indictments were enough to convince him that the Wilmington Democrat should step down.

"I think it's obvious that Rep. Wright has destroyed his own reputation and unfortunately he's damaged the reputation of the state legislature," he said. "I think it would be best for him and the state for him to do one last honorable act and resign."

Daughtridge said that he had been concerned about Wright since campaign finance issues came before the State Board of Elections in May.
