Cunningham makes changes to campaign

Democratic Senate candidate Cal Cunningham has reshuffled his campaign staff for the June 22 runoff.

Gone is Rick Fromberg, the campaign manager, who left shortly after the primary, Rob Christensen reports. He had previously managed the campaign of Virginia Congressman Glenn Nye and had been issues director for Wal-Mart Watch  and political director for John Edwards' Nevada campaign.

Also gone is Angela Guyadeen, Cunningham's communications director, who had previously worked for an Arkansas congressman as well as a regional press secretary for Hillary Clinton.

"We retooled a little," said campaign spokesman Jared Leopold. "We are looking at a little different kind of campaign for the runoff, lower turnout, less of an air war, more grassroots. We've done some restructuring."

Taking up the slack, Leopold said, is Morgan Jackson, a Raleigh political consultant, who has been with the Cunningham campaign from the beginning.

Cunningham has also loaned his campaign $86,000 in the closing weeks of the primary.

everybody - sing along.......

These “changes” in the campaign remind me of the lyrics from Bruce Hornsby’s - “Gonna be some changes” - (Album: Halcyon Days)

"......gonna be some changes, changes made
can't keep on doing what i've been doing these days
look in the mirror i see a clown's face
gotta take it off, gotta get myself straight

gonna be some changes, some changes made
can't keep on doing what i've been doing these days
better figure out something
things are looking grave
gonna be some changes, changes, changes made..."

(one more time - all together now)

gonna do a little retoolin',
no tellin' who I'm foolin',
but there is one question I have, I want to know,
why can't everybody love me as much as the N & O?

reshuffling

Now, now, SaintPinehurst. Just a few "changes." A little "reshuffling." A little fine-tuning. Tweaking.

You know the N & O would never take sides or promote a candidate.

Why can't the voters just go with the flow and vote for the N & O's little darlings? Can't you believe everything that is written in the paper? Doesn't this reporting carry the same weight as Scripture?

If a lesser-loved candidate made these "changes" the story would be carried in the obits.........but "Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud."

"Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his 'journalistic integrity*' for his friends."

*Note: Journalistic integrity is more commonly known as Big Foot, Sasquatch or Yetti.

P.S. This comment has been "retooled a little."

Retooling...

If Burr or Marshall "retooled" this much, Ben and Rob would say their campaigns were imploding -- not "making changes."

But, does he support SECURING the BORDERs?

Is he a Constitutionalist?

he refuses to answer the most basic questions...

Goodbye Cunningham

5-10-10: After last week's Democratic primary, Cal Cunningham was asked several times whether he still had the backing of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, which recruited him into the race.

He twice answered the question in this way, reports Rob Christensen: "All of the parts of the coalition that got us to where we are are intact," Cunningham said.

Wow and this was only 10 days ago!! Talk about cutting and running. It sure took Cal long enough to admit the exit of his team because I have seen the new people in his press releases for about a week - so actually Cunningham's team cut and run only 3 days after making his initial statement.

"We retooled a little bit"?

Losing your Campaign Manager and Communications Director a month before a runoff election sounds like more than a little bit of retooling. Could it be that money woes are hitting the Cunningham campaign?
