Cunningham endorsed by retired Gen. Wesley Clark

Former NATO Commander Wes Clark has endorsed Cal Cunningham in the Democratic Senate primary.

Clark, a former presidential candidate, compared his backing of Cunningham with his decision to support Jim Webb in Virginia's Democratic Senate primary four years ago, reports Rob Christensen.

"This is another key pick-up opportunity in a southern 'swing state,' and Cal is beyond a doubt the best candidate to take on (Republican Sen.) Richard Burr this November," Clark writes in an e-mail fundraising letter sent out by the Cunningham campaign.

"Cal would be the first veteran of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan to serve in the U.S. Senate," Clark writes. "He would bring a veteran's unique perspective to policymaking in Washington."

Cunningham is in a crowded Democratic May 4th primary with such other candidates as Chapel Hill attorney Ken Lewis and Secretary of State Elaine Marshall.

Great Track Record

His great track record in endorsements should help immensely. After all, he carried Hillary Clinton all the way to the White House.

This is like getting endorsed by algore

Gen. Clark's endorsement clearly helping

His fundraising page on ActBlue is the #1 Hot Page for today.

He is already helping Cal reach scores of new donors and to fill his campaign coffers before the end of quarter. Great timing by the General and Cal.
