James Carville said that North Carolina could be "ground zero" in the presidential primary.
The political commentator, a supporter of Hillary Clinton, said at a press conference at today's Young Democrats convention that if she wins Pennyslvania, then the election will be determined by the May 6 primaries in Indiana and North Carolina.
If Clinton loses Pennsylvania, where she's currently ahead in the polls, he said it will be hard for her campaign to continue, Carville said.
Carville said that he does not think Clinton should drop out of the race, despite calls from some Democrats and media commentators, saying that his experience with voters in Texas and at this morning's convention in Research Triangle Park was that they want a chance to participate.
Though he is in the same building as John Edwards, Carville said he will not be lobbying the former North Carolina senator to endorse Clinton.
"I think he's got people bigger than me twisting his arm," he said.

NC voters, consider the following observations about your all important primary: Carville is generally very insightful and NC can have a deciding role/ground zero in the election for President. Obama's ads are rarely ever totally accurate or even totally honest, for that matter. Hillary has the best economic plan and I believe a very comprehensive one as well. Obama's doesn't have a plan and the plans he posts or speaks on are borrowed plans of Hillary's, with his little twist and he lifts them as his own? What is he going to do if he becomes the nominee and doesn't have her to write his policies, plans, position papers, etc. first. Hillary Clinton must stay in this race for as long as it takes to expose Obama for the phony that he is, instead of the uniter he is credited for being. She will create a Universal Health Care Plan and Obama will not. Obama tells lies and half-truths often. For his latest example of a basic lie take the new ad he is running in PA. This is a bald faced lie and he is doing the talking in the ad himself. He says he doesn't take money from special interests and oil companies. Hillary's exaggeration of the Bosnia thing was not a lie and there is no comparison to the lies he has told. She would only have been lying if she hadn't really gone to Bosnia. Instead, she embellished this trip to impress "the guys" who require her to be strong, but she did not lie. Why doesn't the MSM call him on his blatant lies? No, not Osama, they are too busy hiding his faults and looking for anything they can get on Hillary. Also, in my humble opinion it seems the media makes a big endorsement out of every Obama supporter and not so much about Hillary's endorsements, i.e. the PA Governor. Americans need to take another look at Hillary. I am confident that PA voters are informed on the issues and they support Hillary. Let me just say Hillary rocks in person as well as on the trail. I was so fortunate yesterday, March 29th to personally meet her in Madisonville, KY. She is truly a remarkable American. We cannot let her or America down. All of "US" need her in order to restore our standing at home and abroad.
