Butterfield endorses Hagan

G.K. ButterfieldU.S. Rep. G.K. Butterfield has endorsed Kay Hagan.

The Wilson Democrat said that he has gone to church with the candidate for the U.S. Senate nomination, according to Hagan spokeswoman Colleen Flanagan.

The Hagan campaign thinks this will be a boost for her, reports Barb Barrett.

"Congressman Butterfield is very very popular in the district and the state, and I think he sees in Kay the kind of change we're looking for," Flanagan said.

Butterfield has also been a key backer for presidential candidate Barack Obama

This is funny. What has he done to help the district. Northeastern NC suffers from a corrupt Economic Development council, a theatre gone bad, and no real economic development. Butterfield has done nothing since being in office for NC. They are poor and the schools up there are suffering. I should know, I am from there. He is not that popular at all, people just realize he can not be beat. Trust me Greg Dority tried for years.
