Burr told people not to worry

The flap over U.S. Sen. Richard Burr ATM remarks just got another boost.

The Washington-based Politico newspaper reported this afternoon on a statement that Burr put out when Citigroup bought Wachovia reassuring North Carolinians not to worry — around the same time he told his wife to withdraw money from the bank:

"Today's news of Citigroup's acquisition of Wachovia might be unsettling to many in North Carolina. While these are difficult times in our economy, it is important to remember that this move provides for the protection of accounts and the soundness of savings for Wachovia's customers. FDIC has said that all services for customers should continue uninterrupted."

"Today's news once again shows that our financial markets are currently facing tremendous uncertainty, and it is an absolute necessity to move quickly to bring some stability to the crisis."

The press release was posted to Burr's Web site at 12:46 p.m. on Sept. 29, 2008.

On Thursday, Burr spokesman David Ward said that the senator had called his wife around the last weekend in September.

"When you think about the three weeks prior to this, you saw some of the biggest investment banks and commercial banks fail. You saw Lehman collapse, Fannie and Freddie propped up, WaMu fall, and Merrill Lynch acquired by Bank of America," he said. "The outlook was pretty grim at the time."

Re: Burr told people not to worry, but Brooke should FREAK OUT!

Latest from MSNBC on Burr's "insanity defense" for supporting Bush's bank bailout and protecting himself while telling his constituents the opposite.

Re: Burr told people not to worry, but Brooke should FREAK OUT!

Oh please, Gosh, with 20 months left in the campaign, do you REALLY think this issue has the potential to sink Burr? Give me a break. This is nothing but the DSCC stirring up crap.

Really?

Burr told his constituents not to worry three days AFTER he told Brooke to freak out and run the ATM for three days!

THREE DAYS!

The press release was posted to Burr's Web site at 12:46 p.m. on Sept. 29, 2008.

On Thursday, Burr spokesman David Ward said that the senator had called his wife around the last weekend in September.

The last weekend in September of that year is THREE DAYS EARLIER my Republican friend.

Then Burr went on to BRAG about freaking out on Brooke prior to us for two and a half months JUST to explain his vote for Bush's Bank Bailout to a bunch of TeaBaggers.

Yes, Burr is sunk, under his own dead weight and stupid campaign team.

Did Rush Limbaugh sink the GOP as predicted when the DSCC were going after him 24/7? No. These are not issues that will stick around for a year and a half. Let me know when Burr kills a hooker, then we'll talk.

Burr told constituents not to mob ATMs

Sen. Richard Burr (D-N.C.) told his wife to pull the family's cash out of an ATM at the height of last fall's financial crisis — but he advised North Carolinians not to panic when Charlotte-based Wachovia was taken over by Citigroup in an emergency transaction around the same time.

Um.

Wow.

I simply can't improve on that reality one bit.

In the interest of retaining a two party system, is it possible that Burr could develop significant family issues real soon?
