Burr says he'll debate...everybody

U.S. Sen. Richard Burr has already agreed to a debate but not exactly the kind suggested in the invitation.

Durham lawyer Kennth Lewis, a Democratic candidate for Burr's seat in next year's election, sent Burr a letter last week asking him to debate health care reform, charging that Burr had failed to defend his positions in public.

Burr, a Republican, agreed to debate but said the other two potential Democratic candidates should be included: Secretary of State Elaine Marshall and former state Sen. Cal Cunningham. He also said he's done plenty of defending his positions in speeches and news media interviews.

Burr wrote that his campaign staff will contact the candidates about scheduling a debate.

Re: Burr says he'll debate... anyone! Just spell his name right.

No, truthsquad and CO. I'm laughing that an incumbent has to accept a challenge to a debate from the first yippee dog on myspace to ask for one this far out.

You girls really don't get how sad that is do you?

It's telling, but mostly about you Cheerleaders.

Re: Burr says he'll debate...everybody

Truthsquad - what is funny about this situation is the fact that incumbents normally do not feel the need to debate - especially prior to the Primaries - so I think Mr. Lewis was making this political move to try and have a talking point that Burr would not debate him - but I suppose that backfired...

Great Point though TruthSquad - be careful - your logic and ability to comprehend facts might quickly backfire on you as you will be labeled as a "political consultant" as I was earlier today...

Re: Burr says he'll debate...everybody

So, GiggleBox, you afraid for your Democratic buddies to take a stand on the health care issue? That's what it sounds like.

Re: Burr says he'll debate...everybody

So Burr is using Kenneth Lewis to raise his own profile after 15 years in Congress.

That's just crazy... like a fox!

A fox that hid in a burrow for 15 years and spent the past 4 under Liddy Dole's hoop skirt. But a fox nonetheless.
