Burr has $1.6m on hand

U.S. Sen. Richard Burr has $1.6 million on hand.

According to campaign finance report filed recently, the Winston-Salem Republican received $699,591 in contributions and spent $107,692 during the most recent quarter, Barb Barrett reports.

Jennifer Duffy, senior editor of the Cook Political Report, said the cash on hand was "perfectly acceptable" for Burr, who is running for re-election in 2010.

"Are they the kind of numbers that would scare the likes of a Roy Cooper out of the race? No," she said. "But to have $1.6 million in the bank is a pretty good start."

Update: Cooper's most recent state campaign finance report, filed in December, showed him with $366,994 in cash on hand.

WOW I can't believe gosh is trying to control this post. Maybe everone should quit blogging here and let gosh talk to himself. Maybe he would get bored with it, and get off the couch and go get a job. Or maybe this his job, maybe a employee of the democrat party, or acorn, or roy cooper, the list goes on and on.

Gosh, I got a pot kettle feeling

Admitting it is the first step to recovery.

It is a shame a real progressive like Jim Neal doesn't get in this race.

Why? He's a self serving tool that 'documented' his silly self running for Senate on video hoping to make a reality show on E!

Thank GOD for Kay Hagen.

You were saying about Burr's Bank Run and Brooke's Busy Day?

Oh, it netted them $1.6 million in the kind of corporate special interests that almost destroyed this nation, demanded a bailout Burr voted for, and then freaked Burr out so bad he made the biggest rookie mistake of a Senior Senator's life for the next 2 and a half months.

Bragging about being dumb.

Re: Burr has $1.6m on hand

dgilligan, you my friend are a genius.

Didn't even realize how busy Brooke was that weekend our panicked Senior Senator asked her to max out 6 accounts over 3 days, until his windfall just hit the news.

$1.6 million sounds about right. I'm assuming Dick didn't check the couch for loose change.

Gosh, I got a pot kettle feeling

coming on here. A real strong one.

Go look at Roy "Captain Corporate America" Cooper's finance reports dating back to his initial NC House campaign.

It is a shame a real progressive like Jim Neal doesn't get in this race.

Re: Burr has $1.6m on hand

Burr brings new meaning to "Cash on Hand." Does that $1.6 Million reside under his Treasurer's mattress?

Re: Burr has $1.6m on hand

I would have thought the Corporate Special Interests that got us into this mess would pay better in this day and age of requesting bailouts while being in the minority.
